News | Borehole completed at last...
|
August 2010
On 16th August we had a visit from Andy Griggs, who is currently President of the Rotary club of Marondera, in Zimbabwe. Andy gave us a presentation on the progress of the project, started in April 2009, to sink two boreholes and install tanks and pipework, at the Mushe weVanhu Orphanage. At present water is limited from the mains, and a hand pump is used on a well. Although the matching grant was approved by Rotary International in November 2009, there have been delays getting the necessary approval from the US Government for the money to be transferred to Marondera. It is hoped that all the barriers have now been removed and that the two boreholes can be sunk in the near future. February 2011 Update
The work has now been completed, and pipes, pump and water tanks installed. The orphanage extension is up and running, with great water quality and pressure. The main orphanage borehole has some sand in the water but this will soon re rectified with suitable filters.
