News | An urgent request for a sleigh
On Monday 19th December 2011 Club Secretary John received an e-mail from the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust. They needed a sleigh to transport a certain Father Christmas from his helicopter to the childrens Ward at the Hospital in Milton Keynes. Could we help? Oh and it is on Wednesday morning!
John had no difficulty in locating a sleigh, thanks to The Brickhills Rotary club who were willing to lend their sleigh to us provided we could find a car to tow it, as they had no members who could. An e-mail was sent to all club members, with no-one owning up to having a car with a tow bar. John's friend Dave Gillow came to the rescue and offered to lend his car, provided he didn't have to drive, as he'd recently had a knee operation!
So on Wednesday 21st December Father Christmas' sligh was waiting for him by the Helipad at the Hospital when the Air Ambulance arrived and transferred him and Bob to the Hospital main entrance in style. Father Christmas then brightened the lives for a number of sick children, with presents donated by John Lewis.
A successful and very worthwhile call for help was easily satisfied.
